On September 11th 2001, I remember sitting in Mrs. Faust's second grade class working on an assignment. A teacher came in, & started whispering to my teacher's aid, Mrs. Tomlinson. Both Mrs. Faust & Mrs. Tomlinson went into the hallway where all of the teachers where. I guess they didn't want to scare us, by telling us what had happened, but eventually we all found out. Planes had struck the World Trade Center, & many people had died. Being in the second grade, I didn't really understand what was happening, I look back now & I feel guilty because that day I didn't really understand. I was 7 years old, & terrorism was the furthest thing from my mind. After school there was no Arthur or Dragon-Tales it was all about The World Trade Center. My mom turned off the TV, because I started crying, I was so scared that something else was going to happen.
Now 8 years later, I all look back at the people who lost their lives that day. & the families that they left behind. I can't even start to imagine how hard it is for them to watch those twin towers fall year after year, knowing that their loved ones were in there. I stopped to think today about the people who were jumping from the towers. How would you feel if you had to watch your loved one jump to their death every year? They are in my prayers every night. I pray for their closure.
What can I say?
